Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT)

Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) tests is a test used for diagnosis of narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. It is commonly called as daytime nap study.

When is a MSLT required:

  • The usual condition would be a child who has excessive daytime sleepiness (when the child should be awake and alert)
  • And having no obvious reasons like poor sleep hygeine or obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea.

What does an MSLT check:
It measurs how quickly your child falls asleep in a quiet environment during the day.
